Tim Bray references NetNewsWire’s new feature of dinosaurs for blogs that haven’t been posted to in a while. I guess I would fall into that recently. and for that I am extremely sorry. Things have been… you know.
What made me chuckle (in that “ouch!” sort of way) about Bray’s post is that he references several people whose blogs are marked by NNW as dinosaurs. The he proceeds to say that when he found their new sites, he decided they weren’t worth it and deleted their feeds. Glad I wasn’t on that list.
He calls the feature “kind of cruel.” I kind of thought the same of him.
Old, New, Borrowed, Blue

Well, I’m trying to get back into blogging. Oh, it’s always been there, I just got frustrated with my posting method and it discouraged me to the point where I just didn’t want to post any longer. My apologies.
So, I’ve switched the blogging engine to use Typo which is a Ruby on Rails app. It’s a sweet blogging engine! Check it out.
I’ve imported all the old entries into Typo. If you see anything that doesn’t look right, post a comment (btw, comments are working now).
Hmm, that takes care of Old and New. Borrowed and Blue, I guess, are the fact that I borrowed Typo’s default layout and added my orange and blue theme to it.
Lots and lots of stuff has been going on personally and work-wise this year. I need to update things around here, but I want to get this out. Look for more news very soon. Leave me a note! Thanks.

Back at the first of the year, I switched editors from BBEdit to Emacs. I had a few templates set up in BBEdit to make starting blog entries easier. There are most definitely easy ways to set these up in Emacs too, but I just never got around to it. Recently, Doug got Ecto2 setup with Blosxom so it made I decided to try it out too. I think this is going to be a great way to try to coerce myself into blogging again. Feel free to ping me if I’m quiet for too long.

Just a short note to verify that dminor.com is up and running on the new server. Wondered why I haven’t posted in a bit? Read in to that sentence above as to where my time is going these days.

Not sure why, but I spent some time working on picky details of my blog this weekend. In case you are using my RSS feed, there is a 1.0 feed available now.
Also got XHTML to validate again since it was broken due to a plugin that I added some time ago.

This is a small update so that my brother will stop thinking of me as “pathetic” since I’m not updating as often as he would like.
Didn’t get to work on the sites this weekend as 1) we entertained a couple of times on Sunday and 2) I have a large project in the final stages (meltdown time) that we are pressing hard to finish.
This weekend is out too since I’ll be taking the boys to meet grandparents in Missouri and then leaving one with them to take back to Oklahoma with them. Also have two sets of old friends arriving to spend time with us this weekend. Should be lots of fun though.
As stuff happens, I’ll get it on here. :P

OK, weekend time again. I have successfully kept myself from playing with the site during the week when I should be doing paying work.
Layout updates today. Added the calendars and got the XHTML validating. Also got the site sync’d to my TiBook so that I can develop and blog offline, then rsync when appropriate.

Every vamp starts at the top. So here we are at the top. The beginning of something long overdue. A place on the web for me to spout and muse on whatever I like. Of course, every vamp is typically short and repeats itself over and over and … So lookout. A lot of times, I feel like I don’t have much to say that anyone would want to hear.
One of my goals for doing this is to have some record of when not-so-newsworthy things happen: funny stories about the kids, special milestones, frustrations. Who knows?
Keep your eye here if you’re interested in what happens in the walls of my house and head.
