Instructions written by the Marketing Department

I was reading through a DVD recorder manual the other day for my grandmother and came upon this quotable:

Virtual Surround System:
You can enjoy stereophonic space through your exciting 2 channel stereo system.

Doesn’t that just make you want to go out and get one for yourself today. We’re talking bleeding edge home theater here.

I’m glad to know there are others who share my frustration with how my vehicle looks.

No One Belongs Here More Than You

This is fantastic.

It was just mildly cute until I came to the realization that she was actually using this to promote a product. Then I couldn’t stop smiling.

Redrawing World Maps

Posted by Dave Minor Mon, 05 Mar 2007 21:16:00 GMT

Here is an interesting article on how the world map would be redrawn with country borders determined by certain statistics.

Among other things, the toy import/export maps are so very heavily weighted!

Bird thoughts on Pagentry

Posted by Dave Minor Fri, 30 Jun 2006 16:31:00 GMT

I’m taking care of my grandmother’s bird while she’s away this weekend. I changed his paper out this morning and completely coincedentally, the picture on the front page was of the new Miss Arkansas or something. It ended up facing up.

From the looks of things now, Bird feels the same as I do about pagents. I can’t wait to see how he continues to comment on it today.

Odometer
I read today that during the night tonight, the time and date will be 01:02:03 04/05/06. That reminded me of a picture I took with my cell phone last week of the odometer on our 1996 Ford Contour (The Energizer Bunny).

cool indie music

Posted by Dave Minor Mon, 03 Apr 2006 00:19:15 GMT

High Orbit #12 included song called Stress by Jim’s Big Ego. It was a really cool song. Then I found this flash music video of the song on JBE’s website and thought everyone should see it. Not quite as funny as the end of the world from last week, but stylistically very similar.

Break out the REM

Posted by Dave Minor Mon, 27 Mar 2006 16:37:13 GMT

a little flash to remind us that all your missles belong to us.

Not work or family safe.

Update: Due to some people being too slow to get it before the bandwidth attack, I updated the link to a google video archive. It’s not quite as clean and nice, but you’ll get the same effect.

Incredible Sidewalk Art

Posted by Dave Minor Wed, 16 Nov 2005 13:39:23 GMT

Art by Julian Beever
I came across some fantastic artwork by Julian Beever today. He draws 3D images on sidewalks with chalk by using the 2D surface’s depth. You must view his work from a certain angle, otherwise it looks like a very elongated, malformed work.

It’s very impressive.
